Get on the Bus!

I've been waiting to make this announcement, and now I finally can. Are you dreaming of a Summer Fling? A scrapbook fling, that is... Scrappy Chic, along with 3 other stores, is hosting a bus tour! So get on the bus! Join us for a 7-hour bus tour on Saturday, June 28th, with stops from the West Side to the East Side and back! Have you ever wanted to check out the other stores way out yonder? We'll take care of the driving arrangements; you just sit back and have fun while playing games on the bus, making new friends, and having lunch along the way. You'll make a different project at each store and have plenty of time to shop (at a discount). In addition to our store, you'll visit Scrapbookers, Inc. in Commerce, Maggie's Scrapbooking in Clarkston, and Scrapbook Emporium in Shelby Twp. It's sure to be a great time! Tickets are $50 each, and groups of 5 or more save $5 each when they register together before May 24th. Registration opens tomorrow, and space is limited, so save the date and make your plans! More information will be posted at http://www.michiganscrapbookstores.com/ as it's available.

If you're intersted in signing up, just give us a call at the store. Payment is required to register, which can even be done over the phone. This event will be promoted at the Mega Meet in May, so I want to make sure our regular customers are able to sign up earlier. It's a shop hop like no other! By the way... each bus will have a hostess riding along, and I'm open to suggestions as to who you'd like to see on this bus!

Scrapbook League Wrap-Up

Tonight was the last night (party) of the Winter Scrapbook Leagues. Everyone had a good time, and the food & company was great. I gave out a special award for one team - the Team Most "Into It". A group of 4 women came with custom-made aprons with their names on them. But what I love is that before one of the meets, their husbands came up to check it out and they all tailgated! The guys had made masks of the girls and a sign to cheer them on. Andrea, Mary, Dori & Mari (and the guys) - thanks for making us smile!

I Take that Back...

We did get something new, we just didn't get it out yet. I saw the box sitting there from EK Success, but just thought it was restock. Now, I know not everyone uses the Jolee's embellishments and stickers. But even if you don't, you just have to see the new ones they've come out with. These aren't your everyday stickers. The themes and styles they are making now are adorable! There are balloon animals that look real (but miniature, of course), wedding, travel, school and many more themes I can't even keep track! Here are images of some of the travel line.

By the way, Basic Grey will finally be arriving on Tuesday - hooray! We'll work our fastest at getting it out for you (in between the oohing and awwing).

On a Side Note

I can't believe we're getting more snow! I know Staci C loves it, and I do too. But I think I'm ready for warmer days. It was weird not having any new product come in today. It seems like we've received something new almost every day. But we only received restock orders today (Jenni Bowlin is restocked in case anyone's interested).

The one good thing I can say about the colder weather, is it makes me want to curl up with a cup of tea and scrap some pages! As full as my schedule is, that doesn't happen often enough. But our new design team has given me some fresh inspiration this month, and I'm determined to turn it into more layouts. If you haven't checked out the 2008 Gallery yet, visit http://www.scrappychiclivonia.com/gallery.htm. I hope you all find as much inspiration in their work as I do, and stay warm!

Heidi Swapp & Cropper Hopper are In!

A portion of the Heidi Swapp new products we ordered came in today, including the paper! We're still waiting for the embellishments, which is not unusual. But I'll keep everyone posted when they arrive! With that came the new Cropper Hopper storage containers and they are very cool! If I had time to go to a crop (believe me, I wish I did), I'd take one of the new fabric-lined carry-alls! They come in 5x7, 7x12 and 12x12. The cool thing is that there are pockets on both sides in different sizes!

Yeah - Crate Paper and Hambly!

Crate Paper arrived today, and they are the cutest darn papers! Katlin (doodles), Static (rock & roll/surfy), Blue Hill (cute small patterns) and Sweet Branch (Spring's here) are all great collections, and we hope you love them too!

We also received the new screen prints & transparencies from Hambly! They are just way too cool - especially the home decor one! You've got to see these in person...

Calling all Potential Leaguers!

Ok ladies (and gentlemen too)... there are still spots available for the Spring Leagues, and we have some women who would REALLY like you to sign up to make their league night a success. There are spots open on Monday and Thursday nights, as well as Saturday morning. There are even spots for singles, so don't worry about finding an entire team if you're not able to. Teams are normally made up of four scrapbookers, and it's a great time. Just to prove it, we have many of those from the Winter League who have signed up for the Spring one! You can find more info at http://scrappychiclivonia.com/sb_league_spring.htm. Spread the word - you'll get more done on the league than you ever imagined!

More New

I almost forgot - last week we received the new Sassafras Lass lines, as well as new Queen & Co. Felt Fusion! Sassafras Lass came out with a few new lines featuring deer, owls, rainbows, robots and more! Their new paper is actually 12x13 because there is a 1" strip at the bottom to cut off and use! These papers and stickers are not to be missed, especially for fans of fun. Queen & Co. came out with all new Felt Fusion by the yard. There are so many themes I can't get over it. The new packages of Felt Frenzy have Easter, Dog, Cat, Spring themes and more, and are all self-adhesive!

In addition, we received our shipment of new (and re-ordered) B-Line stamps as well as Stamper's Anonymous (including Tim Holtz). Be sure to stop in to check out our large selection of art stamps!

Rusty Pickle Visit was a Blast!

Lance's visit to Scrappy Chic was great... he taught four back-to-back classes. Everyone who attended created some very cool projects and had a great time. Lance is very entertaining, and had plenty of pirate jokes, even after teaching for over 10 hours! There are some kits available for a few of the classes he taught, so if you're interested let us know! They won't last long.

Happy Easter everyone!

Beep Beep... Cogsmo here!

The new Cosmo Cricket arrived yesterday, and it's all stocked! The new Cogsmo and Get Happy lines, along with the Blackboard products, are awesome! These papers aren't frilly or pretty, they're full-on fun! Wendy from the store picked out a bunch of the Cogsmo line at the show since she loves robots, and I already saw her buying her favorites.

We also received part of the new releases from K & Company, which should be out by this weekend. There was a bit of a mix-up with our order in K-Land, so hopefully we'll get the rest very soon.

Plus, guess what... I just received notice that Making Memories new Animal Crackers line is arriving tomorrow!!! Woo hoo! This is a super cute line complete with everything you'd come to expect from Making Memories. There are adorable journaling tablets you can use as they are, or tear out pages to add to your layouts (I love how Staci C does that). Of course, the ribbons and embellishments from this line are adorable - more velvety trims! We've already made space for it, so it's just a matter of getting it in the computer. Then you can get your mitts on it!

Custom Albums

I'm going to announce this in our newsletter tomorrow, but I wanted to let our blog-readers know that we are now offering custom albums! They can be made out of any fabric, even a sports jersey or baby blanket! You bring us your son's favorite old t-shirt (as long as it isn't stinky), and we'll make it into a quality album for you! We offer 8x8 and 12x12 sizes, and prices start at $24.99! Custom albums are perfect for those who just can't find what they're looking for. Think of getting or giving a custom album as a gift - how thoughtful!

Has it been 4 days?

Well, it seems like I haven't posted in a while, and I need to give you all an update! There are so many boxes around the store it's hard to keep track of what's coming in lately. We put out the Prima we have so far (sorry, the paintable transparencies aren't in yet), but there are some cool new flowers and gorgeous paper!

We also received the new ppr & stuff we ordered from Scenic Route - everyone loves the Grafton line! It's very boy meets beach. Let's see... we are expecting Bam Pop and some others next week! Stay tuned...

Fancy Pants is Here too

We have the new Fancy Pants Papa line, as well as the new felt shapes (adorable!) and stamps. If you've seen the felt shapes in stores before, you may have noticed the price. Because the packages (each with 4 sheets) are on the high end, we like to break them up into individual sheets, allowing you to buy one or more for a lesser price. But if you don't act fast, I just might take them all home myself (and eat them up, as I say to my daughter).

We also received the new Inkssentials White Pen; filled with a bright, white opaque pigment ink this pen is great for doodling, accenting stamped projects and journaling on colored papers. Use it over projects painted with Distress Crackle Paint™ and Adirondack® Acrylic Paint Dabbers. Highlight pre-printed embellishments and scrapbook papers to make them pop! (sorry, it was easier to quote their website than to come up with my own twist).

Ok, I have to get back to the new My Mind's Eye lines. Now that the displays are complete, I just can't get over the variety of styles & colors (and even texture) that MME comes out with! I couldn't even pick favorites, (demonstrated by the pile of papers & embellishments I'm taking home myself)!

Rusty Pickle Class Samples are In

For those considering taking the Rusty Pickle classes on 3/21, you'll be happy to know we have samples! They are even cooler in person, and will awe you as they did us. Classes are filling, and the date is fast approaching. If you're on the fence about it, stop in to see the samples. We will continue taking reservations for the crop on the 21st, but because of the classes, seating will be limited.

KaiserCraft is here and others...

We finally received most of our bling from KaiserCraft - very cool selection of rhinestones in all shapes and sizes! We also received a box from Stampendous, but I didn't want to peek knowing we woudn't have enough time to get it out tonight, so I didn't. It should be our full line of flocking powder, though - tooooo cute! A shipment of stylish new 12x12 custom albums arrived today, and I had to tear that open to show them off; tweed, herringbone (which will match the new Heidi Swapp line when that is released), and even oversized pink zebra print! We're still working on the MME releases, but we'll get it all out soon enough! If you haven't been in lately (or even in the last week), there's so much that's new; I encourage you to visit!

MME Is In...

Well, it's in the store. If you've seen how big these displays are for My Mind's Eye, you get an idea of how much stuff there is to put in the computer and put out for display. It usually takes a couple days, but work has begun! You can find detailed images of all the paper and embellishements at http://www.mymindseye.com/, and then stop in to pick up your favorites! The New 29th Street Market line has a great variety of colors and themes, and I can't wait to start using it! Wild Asparagus has been re-introduced with updated colors and themes; this one covers the whole family! You'll start seeing the product up as early as Thursday, but it should all be out by the weekend.

We also received some new die cut papers from KI (I didn't even know they were in yet). One is apples - how cute!

Cricut Classes Added

I know, I know... the Cricut classes are always full. That's a good thing! That means you've decided to take it out to use it and it's not just sitting around getting dusty. Well, I've added a couple more classes in April for those who are trying to get into one. Call the store to sign up for Cricut 101 on Tues 4/22 and Cricut 102 on Tues 4/29 for only $18 each. After 101, you'll feel confident using your machine (and taking care of it). After 102, you'll find yourself using your machine for new things you hadn't thought of before. But sign up soon, because space is limited to ensure everyone gets enough hands-on help in class!

Ah-chNEW!

We received some more new goodies we put out before the weekend. The rest of the Daisy D's new lines arrived, Bambino (sock monkeys galore!) and Sweet Baby Jane. I have to say - the stickers that come with these papers are adorable!!! You could really use them for anything boy or girl.

By the way, I mentioned we had a cute boy kit for March... well, it was so cute it sold out right away! So Erin made up a very cute Spring Kit, and there's only one of those left! I guess you need to act fast if you'd like one. Please let us know if you have any suggestions for kit themes.

New Products & Classes

Look at all these posts today! I guess I like to break 'em up to keep my thoughts separate, like keeping my veggies from touching the mashed potatoes (unless it's corn). Anyway, we have more new products, like the new Nottinghill collection from 7 Gypsies, new Cowboy & Cowgirl papers from Moxxie, as well as Just a Girl (reminds me of My Little Pony, but with butterflies).

I think we're getting the rest of Daisy D's new lines soon, and I recieved notice we're getting more American Crafts next week. If you hadn't heard, we're replacing our existing brads (and some other fasteners) with the amazingly colorful AC line.
On another note, Hailey's prepared for her Get Grungy class, and here's a glimpse... this class will be a fun exploration of what can be done with this unusual product!

March Kit Available

Ok, those of you with boys will love the kit Erin put together for March! It's full of rough & tumble goodness! This kit includes some of the new Zach's Life (some of it is only available in the kit), a mini book, some Scribble Scrabble stuff for your little Dude, an awesome 7G stamp, new AC Indie ribbons (including big felt ricrac!), Technique Tiles, Thickers, paint, glitter, Rain dots, wow! Of course, you get a great deal on everything in this kit worth about $45. It's available for $29.99 while supplies last!

There is only one kit each left from January and February. If you didn't see them, you missed Mary's scallop 6x12 album/Princess kit, and Wendy's artsy love project kit... last call!

2008 Design Team

We officially announced our new Design Team lineup today, and had our first meeting. The girls are excited to get working on their projects, and we're all excited to see what creative goodness they'll return! I surprised them by bringing my camera, and I promised I'd get a better photo later, but I included a snapshot so you at least recognize them and can wish them well when you see them! They are (L to R): Kim Hastie, Michelle Swartzinski, Staci Compher and Elayne Grueber. Welcome aboard!

Lance from Rusty Pickle at Scrappy Chic!

Lance, the owner of Rusty Pickle, will be a guest at our store on Friday, March 21. He'll be there all day teaching classes. Here's the tentative line-up:

9a Pocket Pop Mini Album

12:30p Pirate Princess Inner Circle Album

4:00p Love Forever Album

7:00p Pirate Princess Book

I'm working out the details, and I'll have samples soon. You will be able to sign up for classes right away. The only thing I may change is the time slightly. You can find complete descriptions on the website by the end of the day.

Product Update

We recently announced the arrival of Zach's Life, and already I've received notice from the manufacturer that they are already out of stock on several items! Be sure to get yours while it's available. You won't find this awesome masculine line at any chain stores - it's exclusive to independent retailers. Also, I just received an update from Provo Craft that the Cricuts aren't expected to be available again until April. Hopefully it won't be that long, but I'll keep you posted.

On a brighter note, we received some beautiful Bazzil Bling in birthstone colors, as well as their new 'Just the Edge' cartstock product. I can practically see the layouts already with these awesome border pieces in a bunch of different designs and colors! We also received some new Bazzill Chips in swirls, arrows & keys! We also just received religious papers and stamps from Paper Salon - Communion, Confirmation, Baptism - you name it!

Un-Du it?

For those Un-Du fans out there, you'll be happy to know the product is back on the market (sort of). Apparently, Un-Do (aka Scrapper's Solution) was taken out of circulation for a while, and is still illegal in California (many products are). But I am able to order it again. Interested?

On this same topic, I happened to glance at a receipt from our trip to CHA today. I bought a couple souvenir cups for my kids the Disney store while I was there. The receipt had asterisks next to the cups, and a disclaimer at the bottom stating "these products contain substances known to the state of CA to cause cancer and birth defects..." How weird is that? I suppose if I had seen that on the products before I bought them, I would have chosen something else to let my children play with. Hmmm...
