Our Scrapbooking Yard Sale is Here!

We hope you'll join us on Sunday, 1/31, from noon to 4pm for some amazing shopping deals. We have about 80 sellers who have marked their new and used scrapbook products down to yard sale prices. This is always a wild & crazy (fun) event - everyone leaves with a bargain. We usually see lots of paper, stickers, tools, especially stamps, even Cricut machines and cameras! There will be something for everyone.

I hope to see you there!

While We Were Away

We received a couple new lines of goodies in the store. The new Scooter's Vacation line from Imaginisce is adorable - it's what you get when you cross cute puppies with travel (and scooters, of course)! We also have the new Hippity Hoppity line from We R Memory Keepers - talk about an adorable Spring line! There are a couple page kits and an amazing card kit with this line; worth checking out.

We also have the new Handmade, Scrapbook Trends and Where Women Create magazines just in. We've also restocked some of the K & Co. page kits that sold out on the spot a couple weeks ago. Next week we should start to see some deliveries of new products (and the box we shipped from CA with our samples and catalogs in it). I'll keep blogging it all for you!

CHA Recap

Ok, I'm finally getting back in the groove here (back in MI), and want to post some updates from CHA. We wrapped up a few orders yesterday morning, as we only had about an hour at the show. We got back to the hotel just in time to catch our SuperShuttle back to LAX, where there was a bomb scare. Those who know me understand how this could add to my irrational fear of flying. There were countless police cars, the bomb squad, evacuated termals (100s of passengers standing out on the sidewalks), etc. We found out later it was due to an unattended bag. Fortunately, our plane was leaving from the other end of the airport, so that didn't affect our flight. We usually fly in/out of LAX at night, so our daytime flights were a treat - such beautiful scenery from the plane!
Back to business... we spent more than anticipated (good for all of you), and we've got some extra special news and products to share soon. In the past, we've tried a couple CHA Events when we returned from the show. This time around, I plan on putting together a display with some help from the girls to share what we'll be carrying. But I hope to tie that in with our big news (some of you have already heard chatter of our upcoming changes). I'm getting so excited, not only for that, but for our massive selection of new products which will begin to arrive next week! Keep checking back here, because our blog will be the place to be over the next couple months!

CHA Day 3 Recap

Today was our last full day at the show (only about an hour in the morning there before we leave for the airport). We wrapped up the majority of our orders today, including American Crafts (love the Dear Lizzy line), October Afternoon (if I didn't mention that yesterday), My Mind's Eye, Stamper's Anonymous (oh yeah!), Crafty Secrets, Graphic 45 and so much more!

I spent the latter part of the show crocheting... a necklace, that is! I learned a very cool technique from Margot Potter, the Impatient Crafter. We also got a special visit from her friend, Brini Maxwell. I can't wait to share what I made with everyone when I get back.

The three of us went over to Downtown Disney tonight (in the rain) for dinner and to pick up some souvenirs. We had some great Mexican food and had a little early celebration for Julie's birthday. If only we could've had the balloon guy make a hat for her!

Day 2 of CHA... more fun!

Well, my sore feet show signs of wear on day 2 of walking the show floor (partially my own fault - new shoes). But we still have a lot of work ahead of us. I spent the morning soldering some charms which I plan on making into necklaces, but I'll need some practice at this. I will say this was super fun to do, and I could see it turning into a side hobby!

I ran into Mark Montano this morning as well (from While You Were Out, 10 Years Younger, etc.). He's a very bubbly personality and autographed his Big Ass Book of Crafts for me. There were other scrapbook celebrity sightings throughout the day. We also bumped into Nicole Harper from OH, who is working the Studio Calico booth here at the show. So much fun, so much work to do...

So as we wait for our Chinese food to arrive at the hotel, I'll leave you with some hints about what we ordered today. Bo Bunny (hello MamaRazzi), Studio Calico (and you can stamp your heart out with that), Scrap Within Reach, Melissa Frances, Creative Imaginations (Star Wars fans will delight once again), and the list goes on! Tomorrow is our last full day at the show, as we head out Wednesday. I'll blog again tomorrow to fill you in.

Wow - Day one of the show was a whirlwind!

We flew through part of the show floor today (well, Julie and Staci did as they did make & takes along the way). I, somehow, only managed to see two aisles of booths. I did, however, make 10 pair of earrings in a class (that's a story for later). So my fingers are a bit sore from all that wire-wrapping! Tim Holtz was a busy bee today - I think I saw him at two or three different booths representing his goods. This photo was at the Sizzix booth where we checked out his new line of dies and embossing folders (don't worry, we ordered them all).

We also placed several other orders, like Basic Grey (ooooh it's yummy!), Pink Paislee, 7 Gypsies (got you all covered on that), etc. There is a pile of catalogs over a foot high on the bed I need to glance at before I go to sleep. Another class awaits at 7am, then it's off to the show floor again in the morning. I leave you with this wonderful photo of the three of us enjoying a crab dinner at Joe's - always fun!

CHA or Bust!

Hello everyone! Julie, Staci and I are in sunny California at CHA. Julie says, "California is awesome! I see no snow. It's totally fabulous and 85 degrees." Of course, she's joking because it's in the 50s and mildy sunny, but hey - nobody's complaining here. We 'shopped' Making Memories VIP event tonight (and spent double what we planned, but just wait until you see what we got). We also went to an event put on by Creative Options (ordered some cute storage stuff), and had some dessert with SEI (yes, order yet even more tonight). The show hasn't even started yet! We'll be hitting the floor running tomorrow morning (you may think I'm joking, but we literally will be running to be the first (insert number of people here) to several booths to get freebies and special offers. I can't wait to share more with you tomorrow!

Stay tuned through the week for regular updates!

Time gets the best of me...

And occasionally I forget to blog some new products. :) I missed a couple new lines we received in the last week or so. We have the newest line from Reminisce, called Valentine's Night. This is a great line you can use for not only Valentine's, but any night out whether it's prom, date night, wedding, the options are unlimited! We also have the new Valentine's line from K & Company, Ka-Zoo. Hello, adorable! There are robots and lions and frogs with hearts, more hearts and cute, cute stuff!

We also have a new storage system from ScrapCessories. This is the coolest new idea! They are open bins in which you can store a number of items. But the best part is the adaptors that you can use with it! There is an insert which holds 8 Cricut Cartridges! It slides into the bin on a track, and you can insert either several cartridge holders, or your books and keypads. The bins nest on top of each other for easy storage, and lock tight to avoid mishaps. There is also a bottle caddy insert which is perfect for alcohol inks, inkpad refill bottles and more! We have the boxes available as kits in the store for a low introductory price of $16.99 and up while supplies last. You decide what to store in yours!

The Beautiful new K & Co!

K & Co. has been releasing one beautiful line after another, and we just received an amazing one! Their new lines, Handmade & Serendipity, are just gorgeous! Mary and I are oohing and aahing over them as I type. I foresee a few reorders this week already (I'll be taking home one of each for sure). The Handmade line is complete with ephemera packs, new gems (love these!!!), pre-made albums, the works! I hope you love it as much as we do! I think I just set a record of exclamation points used - that's how cool it is! Check it out soon before it's gone.

Artist Wanted

I'm looking for an 'artist' (doesn't have to be a professional) who is capable of painting some imagery on our walls in exchange for store credit. It's nothing too difficult, just fancy and pretty (of course). Those interested should contact Chris at chris@scrappychiclivonia.com. Those interested will need to show me samples of your painting skills.

Album Embossing this weekend!

Do you have albums you'd like customized with some embossing? Holly Runo will be in the store Friday 1/15 starting at 6pm to offer album embossing to anyone interested. You can emboss most albums, on the front, back or spine. Can't make it after 6? That's ok - drop off your albums before then and we'll take care of the rest!

For more information about Holly, visit www.legacyembossing.com.

Keeping you in the loop...

This time of year is always the calm before the storm. Anyone who's kept tabs on when we go to CHA knows it - we're all busy working on little details that lead to the biggest craft trade show of the year in CA. We'll be making most of our buying decisions for the next few months there, and it's a lot of work. With the way the economy has changed, this should be an interesting show. I must say, most of the companies we love will still be there and have amazing new releases to share. As usual, my budget is busting at the seams because there is so much to choose from.

We're working on some changes in the store (all good, I promise), and I'll be posting more information about those changes soon. I'm optimistic that 2010 will be a great year for crafting and learning new things. That's all I can share for now, but don't worry - I'll be spilling the beans soon! :)

School Days Mini Album

Did you see the adorable 4x12 Mini album Kim made near the register the last time you were in? This thing is classic Kim - very fun and makes you want your own. Well, you can! She's offering the mini album as a class for only $20 on Mon 1/18 at 5:30pm. Call the store to reserve your spot!

New K & Co. and more

I feel like I'm out of the loop! My Mom is in town, so we've been visiting, running around, etc. I need to catch up on a little blogging, so here we are! We have the new Blossomwood line in from K & Co. This one is a winner (not that many aren't from K & Co.), a real beauty! The line is full of botanicals, butterflies and more, designed by Tim Coffey.

We also have the new Batman cartridge for the Cricut. It must have swooped in right after Superman!

Also, for those planning their Valentine's Day cards, we have a full assortment of wood-mounted stamps from Inkadinkadoo. Check them out near the register next time you're in!

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable new year celebration, whatever that involved. Maybe you scrapbooked the night away, or spent time with friends and/or family. We spent the evening with family playing games. I love a good game night (especially two in a row). I even squeezed in a little jewelry-making, another (newish) hobby of mine.

I'm not usually one to make new year's resolutions, but this year was a little more significant for me, and I've made some birthday resolutions. One of them is to be more healthy, in general. I also want to spend more quality time with my children. If you've seen me at the store with the kids in tow, you know what I mean. They're not the biggest fans of hanging out with Mommy at work. Of course, I'd like to pencil in more time for my hobbies, inluding scrapbooking (which I'm falling a little behind on). I've been trying to do a couple pages a week, which is tough to fit into my busy schedule. In 2010, I'd like to make it a priority... I remembered why I do it in the first place. What have you resolved to do?
