A Few New Cool Items...
Since the newsletter went out yesterday, we've already put out some new arrivals! We now have Lawn Fawn stamps and papers out on the shelf! Carta Bella's new collections, Well Traveled and So Noted (took some of each home for myself) are also ready to be shopped. There's a new selection of bling from Zva back in our embellishment section, as well.
That reminds me... If you haven't been in the store in a while, I encourge you to look around. We've had so many new products come in lately, we've been shuffling things around often. This means that new products, some even a week old, get nestled into the aisles with the rest of our beautiful products, and can easily be overlooked. You'll find the trip around the store is worth the visit, as I'm sure you'll find something you love.
Want some more love? How about our Impromptu Store Sale going on tomorrow, Friday 2/22? We're putting pretty much everything on sale for 30% off! We really are running out of room to put out the new products, so we sure could use your help making some space. Plus, all clearance merchandise (there's a lot of that, too) is an additional 20% off! There are a few exclusions, but not many, so enjoy the sale!
A Little Bit More About Me...
Hi everyone, Michele here today…
I have been
crafting for as long as I can remember. When I was younger I made all my
cards. My aunt just gave me a card I made her when she had her first baby, that
was over 35 years ago. I thought I was hot stuff using construction paper and
markers. I also LOVE home décor and altered items! It was just a couple of
years ago that I started doing layouts and minis. I also make jewelry and
candles but paper crafting is what you will find me doing when I am in my craft
room these days. I am so excited to be sharing my projects with you!!
I grew up in the Plymouth/Canton area, moved to
California in my early 20s and about 6 years ago I came back to the
Plymouth/Canton area. I work about a mile from my home.
If I am not working on a project I am with my
nieces. They are 6 and 4 years old. You will see a lot of them in my
layouts.
I do long to go back to California but that
won’t be happening anytime soon, I couldn’t possibly be that far away from the
girls. I do travel back at least 3 times a year to visit my dearest friend, boy
do we have fun! He was one of the first friends I made when I moved to Los
Angeles and we have been besties ever since.
1. When I was a kid (before I graduated from high school) I wanted to be a dental hygienist. Now I can’t even imagine putting my hands in peoples mouths…
2. My first job when I moved to Los Angeles was with a travel agency and we sold vacation packages to central America. I was lucky enough to get to travel to the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador.
3. In junior high and high school I was in the marching band, flute and saxophone mostly but I also tried piccolo, oboe, drums and flag.
4. I get really nervous when speaking in front of groups of people even if I know them, my face turns beet red and I speak REALLY fast.
5. I have been told bunches of times I laugh like Betty Rubble. ;)
Well, that’s
it in a nutshell… check back to read more about the other members of the team and see what we are up to with all the new product arriving daily at Scrappy Chic!

Hey, it's Angela once again....
Hello everyone! Angela here, back for year four (4! Can you believe it?) coordinating our fabulous Design Team at Scrappy Chic.
When I'm not scrapping (or making cards or minis or other fun paper things), I'm probably at work (I teach college English full time), hanging out with my lovely husband of almost ten years (10! Can you believe it?), or attempting to herd our two cats (whom you will often see on my pages. Well, the husband, too, I guess ;) ).
I actually started scrapping with the goal of being on the Design Team at Scrappy Chic. I loved shopping at the store, and I guess I was looking for an excuse to do it more often! It appears to have worked, as you'll frequently find me trolling the aisles looking for new goodies. That also means if you see me in the store, there's a good chance I'll know where something is, so ask away! :)
I'm an 8.5x11" scrapper, primarily -- something about a big giant square of paper kind of freaks me out. However, this year I've taken the plunge and started a 12x12 Project Life album (the store will have their products in May or so -- did you know? How cool!). I love pattern and color and mists and stamping and tapes and Silhouette-cutting and mixing and matching. I'm not great at using flowers and girly stuff, but I'll give it a shot when I need to! Trends are my friend a lot of the time -- it satisfies my short crafting attention span to have a constant flow of new ideas.
Here are a couple of layouts from the past few months that represent my style pretty well:
I love scrapping the everyday (grading essays, anyone?), and I sure love me some Studio Calico.
You'll see my cats a lot on my pages. They're so dang cute!
Aww, who's that cute boy? And look, more Studio Calico. ;)
There's a pretty funny story here, involving last summer's trip to CHA with the store...you should ask me about it next time we run into each other!
Ok then, enough from me! Before I go, I'd just like to say how great it is working with a group of talented ladies, both on the design team and at the store -- Scrappy Chic just rocks all the way around!

DT member Bio Terri
Hello
again, my name is Terri Szymanski and I am honored to be apart of the Scrappy
Chic design team. I am lucky to be a stay at home mom to our four year old
daughter, Genevieve. I am married to a very wonderful and supportive husband,
Steve. I have been married for almost 9 years. My hubby and I are both
originally from Illinois but now call SE MI home. We lived in Texas for 6 years prior to moving here to
MI.
My
daughter is one of my loves and I really enjoy scrapbooking her. I have a great
friend who has taken her photos the past 4 years and really showcases her fun
personality.
I
love to play in my scrapbook room when I’m not running around chasing an active
4 year old. I have been in the hobby for the past 13 years and started as a way
to relax and get over being away from my family. I started scrapbooking when I
lived in Atlanta and was dating my (now) husband
who lived in Illinois .
It has blossomed into a hobby (I mean obsession). I enjoy making 12x12 layouts,
cards, and even fun little 3D projects.
I
am a DEVOTED Cricut lover. I use my Cricut on most of my projects and I love to
cut titles, mats, and embellishments. If I go to a crop I normally will have my
mini and my Gypsy glued to my hand. I love to take a basic cut and jazz it up using
stickles, gems, rhinestones, pens, glitter, or embossing. I own a Cuttlebug and
lots of folders.
People
often ask about my style of scrapbooking/ card making and I will say I do love
to use new trends on pages, and I love to scrapbook from the heart. I will say
my style has to be GIRLY. Bring on the bling, sparkle and bright fun girly
colors!
I
have really enjoyed scrapbooking and meeting fantastic ladies and a few
gentleman who share the same love of the paper as I do.
Here
are 5 fun facts about me:
1)
I went to school for automotive and diesel technology.
2)
I love going to drag races.
3)
I've gone to the Covered Bridge Festival in Rockville Indiana for the past 12 years.
4)
I love breakfast in bed.
5)
I met Gerald Ford when he was President.

Back For A Second Year!
Hello all, it’s Lanette
here!
I’m super excited to be back on the team for my second year! I had so
much fun last year, not only with the amazing product, but also working at Mega
Meet and teaching my first class!
A bit about me; I am lucky enough
to be a stay at home mother of two beautiful little girls (who I’m sure you
have seen hanging around the store). I am a craft alcoholic, I love all crafts but my obsession is scrapbooking. It has become my creative outlet and connection
to the grown-up world and I am extremely grateful for it. I’ve been scrapping
about eight years, maybe more. My style tends to be Girly & Romantic
but yet Clean & Simple, but I try not to be boxed in by my style. I love to try new products and techniques and
I’m always ready for a new challenge.
I thought I would share a
few of my favorite projects - some of which you may have seen at the store.
First, here is one of my projects
that I used to apply for the team last year.
And who doesn’t love some
Bo Bunny.
A little trendy starburst layout
using Eco Park.
And just to round things
out, my latest mini, which is being offered as a class.
If you want to see more of
my work you can check out my blog: Stacks of Scraps
Thanks for stopping by today!

A quick hello..
Happy Sunday!!! I hope your weekend was fun and relaxing. My
name is Terri and I am thrilled to be selected as part of the 2013 Scrappy Chic
design team. It is a dream come true.
I am sure you will find lots of fun inspiration from the
great group of ladies on the design team.
Here is a look at the projects I submitted for the design
team tryouts.
Layout #1 –Titled: Social Butterfly – The objective here was
to use only solid papers in an innovative way. I used bold colors coordinating with
the photo, large cut shapes, and a few
Cricut cuts dressed up with some stickles.
Layout #2 – Titled: You
Are – The goal here was to use at least 5 different manufactures. I used Echo
park paper, bazzill cardstock, cord’inations cardstock, twine, and hero arts.
Layout #3 – Titled: Happy Girl – This was to use mainly one
manufacture but at least 4 different items from them. I used My Minds eye. I
used the paper, a die cut, brads, rub on, and stickers.
Altered Project – Titled: Love Wreath. We were given free
range to alter/create what ever we wanted. I chose to make this pretty fun
little LOVE wreath. The wreath started as basic heart foam and I cut, and
rolled 198 roses in different colors. I then added the sweet little love banner
using a heart die, and a set of fun little lady bugs from Create a Critter 2
Cricut cartridge.
I am thankful and excited to be apart of a great team who
loves and supports Scrappy Chic. I am looking forward to sharing my passion
with you. If you see me in the store or at a crop please stop by and say hello.
Look forward to our formal bio’s coming soon.

This is the team (that’s me on the left then Terri, Lanette and Angela):
For our tryout we had to create three layouts. I would like to share mine with you along with the criteria for each.
Layout #1: Titled ‘Merry’ We had to use on solid paper and describe the innovative ways we did. I stamped backgrounds on solid cardstock and did some sanding. Layout #2: Titled ‘4th Annual Light the Night’ We were asked to use at least 5 manufacturers on our layout, I used Echo Park, Carta Bella, MME, Teresa Collins, Bo Bunny, Twinery, Tattered Angels, Maya Road, Lush. Layout #3: Titled ‘Disney Princesses on Ice’ For this last layout we were asked to use primarily one manufacturer, mine was MME. The we had to describe our favorite techniques that we used, mine were: paper distressing with ink and a distressing tool and heat embossing. We could also submit an altered project. For this there were no requirements or limits we just had to list techniques and products. Project #4: Altered Mousetraps on magnetic board Textured tarnished metal technique using hot glue and aluminum foil. Mod Podge, crackle paint-clear rock candy, Distress Ink-Walnut Stain Altered mousetraps using Distress Stain-Broken China and Brushed Pewter, Fancy Pants Blissful Blizzard paper pack and the white corrugated cardboard, Fancy Pants velvet ribbon and lace, MM Celery ribbon, Lifestyles nesting circle dies, 12 days of X-mas gems, MM paper reverie gems, Jillibean trim, Ranger liquid pearls, Ranger Stickles-Crystal, MME Stella and Rose Hattie trim, various Tim Holtz dies, Martha Stewart snowflake punch, velvet ribbon and burlap twine. I am looking forward to working with the design team and all the lovely people over at Scrappy Chic!! Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you around the crop rooms soon!!

As the Endcap Turns...
Those who have been in recently can attest to the fact that we're changing out new products on the endcaps almost daily! It's amazing how much new product has come in over the last couple of weeks. When I saw the UPS driver today, I just looked him in the eye and said, "No!". Fortunately, he knew I was kidding. He proceeded to deliver 5 more boxes, on top of the 20 or so sitting there already. Don't worry, we're working on them daily to get things out as fast as we can.
So far, we are finally getting out the themed papers and stickers from Paper House. Those should be in their themed sections by the weekend - great new papers! We have a couple new lines from FabScraps - Little Peeps and Romantic Travel. We also received tons of new Technique Tuesday stamps, many of which are designed by Ali Edwards, including her exclusive stamp of the month. I can't forget the new college papers and stickers for U of M, MSU, Notre Dame and Ohio State.
Bazzill has a few new collections, now going out on display - Freedom, Mac, Lucy's Crab Shack and Ambrosia (designed by Margie Romney-Aslett). I can't forget the new Maya Road - embellishments galore, twine spools and stamps!
Now, I have some other news, but please don't freak out... We have, among the boxes yet to be opened, some amazing new products that you've all been waiting for. I'll give you some hints... The manufacturers rhyme with Mo' Money, Benny Jo-Lin, Freight Caper, Moodio Malico, Flamerican Trafts, Traffic Porgy-Dive. Can you guess what's in them?! We're so anxious to get them out. We'll be sure to blog about what's inside when they're ready to be shared. Stay tuned!

Anna Griffin, Crafter's Workshop, and More
We have a couple new collections from Anna Griffin - Olivia and Hope Chest, all beautiful! We also have several new 6x6 stencils from Crafter's Workshop. Some are designed by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer, some are great for Project Life, the rest are fun, too. You've got to try something cool with these new patterns!
An update on other products in stock... We are working on getting the Prima products out on the wall tonight. Sarah is moving along quickly on it! The We R Memory Keepers album aisle has been completely restocked and is full of every color album you could want. One note for We R album lovers - they have discontinued their linen albums, and only have limited colors available until they're gone. If there is a certain size/color you like in the linen albums, be sure to get them while they're available. They really are great albums.

We have some gorgeous new products out (well, almost out). The new collections from Glitz really are on the shelf, and they are gorgeous. I thought I could pick and choose what to take home for myself, but I had to have almost one of everything! We have Uncharted Waters (my fave), Color Me Happy and Love You Madly. I do love them... madly!

The latest collections from Teresa Collins are in (and on the shelf) for you to enjoy. Jen was working on it tonight, so I must go shopping through this line tomorrow! There's Far & Away, Seen & Noted, Memories, and He Said/She Said. See you there...
