Whoa... Hold the Phone!

Well, the phones were ringing off the hook today. The delivery drivers each made an appearance. The boxes filled the foyer, and there were customers peeking in the boxes as best they could! Yes, it was a crazy day!

Here's what our friends in the big trucks brought... We have the newest clings from Unity Stamps, including their stamps which coordinate with Cosmo Cricket, Jillibean Soup, Webster's Pages and more! We got a couple new Hero Arts stamps as well. There are also new clear stamps from Technique Tuesday - these include Ali's stamps among many other super cool ones!

Studio Calico is here! I love the State Fair line, and Countryside is so fun! The new lines from Crate Paper are on the shelf - we LOVE these!

We also received the three new collections from Cosmo Cricket! There is Salt Air, Social Club and UpCycle. The only bummer is there are no Glubers yet (hold tight, we will definitely have them once they're available).

We have new stickers and fillable wands (like the tube - but think gifts for the little girls) from SRM. Plus, a Creative Imaginations order snuck in this week... I saw someone bring up the Peeps stickers today (yes, the edible ones) - there's paper to match! A couple of Tim Holtz' items from Sizzix arrived - an embossing folder and a couple dies, but we're still waiting for the majority of it. There's still one other special box waiting to be opened... I'll save that news for tomorrow!

Know when to fold 'em!

Hi all!
It's Angela from the Design Team, here with a couple projects using some new goodies from Scrappy Chic!

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Sassafras's designs -- I love the bold use of color and whimsical sense of design! With their latest lines, they've added a new kind of embellishment, one I don't think I've seen anywhere before: Foldies!  Here, let me show you a card:

I simply punched out a flower cluster from the 12x12 sheet of foldies, folded up the little tabs, and adhered it to my card front, curving it to fit just the way I wanted it to. I also added some letter stickers from Echo Park's latest collection (love that one, too!). There's dimensional adhesive under the flowers, but that's just a precaution -- the folds themselves give a nice (but still mailable) depth.

I used another on a layout -- wanna see? Ok:

Aww, sweet cat :). Here, the flower cluster is folded and layered over some other Sassafras papers and banner stickers, as well as my photos. Again, the little folded tabs allowed me to curve the cluster just the way I wanted it. Added bonus: it has a lovely, fabric-like look to it, even though it's plain old paper.

I hope you give this new embellishment a try! Have a delightful day.

Other Supplies: Card -- Lilybee paper, Hero Arts background stamp. Layout -- Sassafras Starters and Sweetly Smitten papers, Doodlebug and Cosmo Cricket alphas, Girls' Paperie label holder, MME Lush brad, MME Stella & Rose stamps, Pink Paislee tape, vintage typewriter.

It's a Basic Grey kind of day.

You guessed it... Basic Grey is in! Mary worked dilligently to get it all checked in, and we are now just looking for a home for it. I meant somewhere in the store, but I'm sure you were thinking, "ooh, my house!" Don't worry, there's enough to go around.

We also picked up some new little die cuts and tags from Elle's Studio. Their newest handmade layers line would go great with the Sassafras starters line! I just got some more delivery confirmations for this week, so stay tuned to our blog for the latest arrivals!

Were you creative today?

Hi Ladies. Fawn here. Well, despite all the rain yesterday, we were blessed with one more cold, snowy day today. Hurrah! One more day to hybernate inside and create. I love days like this and wanted to share a sneek peek of some of my work. This bright, new Pebbles paper and the coordinating chipboard flowers were a perfect compliment to my picture of some of Hollywood's most famous stars: Tom Cruise, Michael Jackson, Shrek, and our very own Chris Nicholson! They all stand out among the cheery paper. Try this simple layout; it gives you plenty of room for 3 or 4 photos. I used the scraps for a few quick cards, too. Hope you're enjoying these last few blustery days. Create something special today!

We also have the newest releases from Bo Bunny! You'll love these new lines, like Timeless, Ad Lib, Gabrielle and Blast Off. There is so much to choose from. Plus, if you like their coordinating Double Dot papers, I think you'll love the new grid papers in the same colors! We're working on getting this large order in, and it should all be on display by the weekend.

One Fine Day...With Bazzill

Hi there! This is Tina joining you with a nice cup of warm chai tea. I’m so excited to be a part of the 2011 Scrappy Chic design team and happy to share my very first design team layout with you.

Being the newbie to the group is a little intimidating but I’ve already been enjoying all of the talented ladies that are veterans and cannot wait to see what they come up with next. I just love the creative process, and I am constantly getting inspiration from my surroundings including the Scrappy Chic gallery. If you haven’t checked out the gallery lately, take a look and see for yourself. There’s tons of inspiration in there and more being added all the time.

I have to admit that I find it difficult to justify using only one picture on a layout, but I love this picture of my daughter so much that I had to keep it as the focus. Sometimes I just want to scrap as many pictures as possible, which is great to get a lot accomplished, but then I like to change it up a bit and do a few pages of just one or two select photos. So here's giving you all permission to just scrap one or two photos and use a lot of embellishments. It's so much fun!

This layout is a peek at my take on the newest Bazzill embossed cardstock. I really love how versatile it is. This started out as white cardstock and I could not wait to add some color to it. David Bromstad is always an inspiration for changing anything from white to colorful! I jumped right in and started painting. I decided to start out simple and use my good 'ol creamy brown cats eye chalk. This instantly changed the look of it and brought out the flourishes. Once I got up the nerve, then I started to add some paint. Some areas went on heavier than I would have liked, but I just went with it. There’s no mistakes when you’re creating, right? I went over the embossed designs with stickles which really made it pop. Then I cut out the middle square to create a window for my photo. It's hard to see in the photos, but I rolled the sides with a pencil to give it some curl and chalked it up a bit more. I chose a patterned paper that spoke to me which is from Kaiser Craft (English Rose) and used that both to back my photo as well as used the solid green side to make a handmade accordian flower as well as my title “1 Fine Day”. I also painted up the petaloo flowers which come in all sorts of sizes. I just love the new making memories butterflies too. They actually come 60 in a pack!! I had to break out the sewing machine just to sew a few stitches on those cuties. They are so whimsical and I love the graphic patterns on each of them. Oh and speaking of inspiration, can you guess what kind of stamp I used for the polka dots on my letters and flower? An Imaginisce Monkey stamp! He is juggling a bunch of balls and of course I cannot resist polka dots so I just inked and stamped only the dots. Easy peasy. Other Monkey Stamp projects coming to the gallery soon.

It sure has been “One Fine Day”! Here’s to getting those pictures down on paper and enjoy the process. I hope to see you in the aisles or the crop room at Scrappy Chic very soon. Happy scrapping!

Oooh... Maya Road and Hero Arts are in!

I know many of you have been asking, "when will the zippers be here?", and you shall wait no longer! We received an order from Maya Road today, and it is gorgeous! We received all of the zipper colors (by the yard), pleated satin ribbons, adorable chipboard shapes, stamp sets, trinket pins, mini wooden spools, you name it!

We also received our first-in-a-long-time order from Hero Arts. We haven't carried this brand in a while, but you'll see it coming back over the next several months. Our first batch includes some of the new cling-mount and clear stamp sets to come from their partnership with Basic Grey (ooh - it even beat the Basic Grey paper here, Hello Luscious and Life of the Party should arrive Monday). We plan on carrying their featured Stamps of the Week and many others... so cute!
